Beyond the Poses, Keeping the Mind in the Heart
A yoga sutra philosophy study 8-week series

It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily routines and feel like we’re missing the experience of life. Our mind is mechanical, operating from memory and past experience. How do we use our heart to think, as it is the source of creativity and wisdom. Join Paula in learning the teachings of the yoga sutras. In dialogue, we will look at how thought and emotion impact our body, and see how yoga philosophy aids in developing our spiritual practices.

Explore the eight limbs of yoga to gain insight about your habits and learn practices that develop self-understanding and acceptance. Clarity is gained to help shift defeating behaviors and self- awareness is cultivated. The sutras say, as you develop this practice, you open to the light of intelligence and a steadiness is established within. This series will focus on the sutras, discussion, meditation and pranayama – but will not include an physical asana practice.

Finding the Charge…Your Life Force Power – A chakra based mind/body share group

8-week series Jan. 28 – March 19  6:30-7:45pm  register through: Dallas Yoga Center
In this series we will have a chance to connect with each other in a supportive group, practicing chakra based mind/body techniques. We will be reading an excellent book written by Jacquelyn Small and practice some of Anodea Judith’s work, both teachers of mine. Through lecture, book study and self-reflection we notice where the energy is held in our body when we are fearful jealous, insecure, sad, or anxious as emotion is held our connective tissue.

Observing our energetic charge we can shift cellular memories that are stuck, depleted or scattered. We are able to connect & experience being in our body in a new way. Witnessing our thoughts/feelings together and allowing them to be acknowledged without judgment, we release the tension of our holding patterns to relax into a deeper connection to ourselves. The sacred place that has been waiting to be touched by self-acceptance. A forgiveness that welcomes grace and the reawakening to sense our life force in a more connected way.

Join me as we gain clarity and compassion for ourselves and open into a deeper more integrated place inside our hearts. Series will cover:

  • Book study assignment & dialogue
  • Exploring your body’s
  • Developmental & guarding patterns through the chakras system
  • Self-awareness practices through buddy system & journaling
  • Meditations & bio-energetics techniques
  • Increasing self-understanding & love
  • Having fun together!

Merge Emerge Ongoing Support Group

For those of you who have attended any of my “growth groups” from the past, we merge into one.

This group provides a supportive, healthy environment to maintain open-heartedness. The focus is on staying present to the choice of love. Emphasizing the shifts from old beliefs and attitudes, family patterns, loss, relationship, and communication issues to conscious, intentional choices.

The format includes:

  • Lecture (topics from past readings)
  • Group share
  • Breathwork and meditation

When the heart opens, love enters, melting our frozen bodies and emotions, softening rigid thinking.

Form to Flow
An asana workshop to Stay Present Inside Yourself.

The form of the body gives impact to the quality of the mind – and the steadiness of the mind allows us to transition and flow with life, keeping our attention centered internally to the self, our source.

This workshop will provide you with clear, Iyengar alignment principles that mindfully bring your awareness to grounding points of action that hold us steady, physically, and mentally, in our pose. This steadiness relaxes the mind and the breath, enabling us to flow with ease in our practice from that connection deep inside ourselves.

From these grounding actions, we will take the practice from static to flow, keeping the mind soft, transitioning to a more active practice.

This will be a fun, dynamic practice enabling you to stand on your own two feet, powerfully. Paula will also interject yoga philosophy.

Open Space Inside Yourself

This workshop will integrate a practice of asana, philosophy, and meditation to develop sensitivity for the body, compassion for the mind, and peacefulness to the heart.
